What did Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, write in 1787?

It was something about Athenian History, especially a timeline analysis about the Democracy there.
Thank you for your prompt non-answer, Goodrich. I typed lots in response to your refusal to type what you have to say, but my memory of Community Guidelines required that I delete them before submitting this postscript. Try this link to find out what I really have to say (Ooops, I forgot to include the Link)

  • Larry says:

He basically stated that a democracy is destined to fail due to people exchanging freedom for comfort.
    From Bondage to Spiritual Faith
    Spiritual Faith to courage
    Courage breeds liberty
    Liberty brings abundance
    Abundance to complacency
    Which leads to apathy
When one does not care, he begins to depend
on others to care in place of him, so
    a certain dependence breeds
And once you depend on others to choose
for you, you are lead back into bondage
Bottom line, people want a smirking fool who promises
to dole out money to the so called “less fortunate”
He makes note of the worlds superpowers (which were democracies), and how they last an average of 200 years, always going through this cycle.
EDIT: This dependence always leads to a dictatorship, raised from the ashes of a fallen democracy. Once democracy is again established, the cycle begins a new.
