I’m planning a stay at the Loch Lomond Youth Hostel in August. I wanna go on a bike trip there (preferably a round trip of about 40km). Is it possible to rent a bike there? Or would you recommend a different hotel/youth hostel near Loch Lomond (accessible by bus/train) where you can rent bikes?
And any ideas for a bike trip there? Where could I go?
Are there bike maps available – for sale or online?

    The hostel itself has bike hire by the looks of it(assuming they mean store as in shop, not as in safekeeping) and a list of local routes;

    EDIT- After looking at their website again are you aware the hostel shuts it’s front doors at 11pm every night and doesn’t give any entry after that?

    Trips from there would depend on your experience. If you are an experienced cyclist you could take a run up the slightly more scenic and quiet East shore of Loch Lomond, to Balmaha and Rowardennan. If you are not an experienced cyclist I would forget cycling from that location, the road (A82) is very busy and notoriously dangerous and there are no cycle lanes etc, you are right in the traffic.

    Not bike hire. they had a secure store for bikes overnight.

    It is almost impossible to cycle down the East side of the loch – lots of carrying required.

    You can hire bikes at Balloch – not far from station.
