Entry from: Edinburgh, United Kingdom Entry Title: “Edinburgh: Beauty and Bagpipes” Entry: “Hey all. After our Swedish adventure, myself and a group of about 12 others travelled to Scotland for the weekend! I wasn’t really involved in planning this trip at all, but I jumped at the opportunity to see Scotland. We left the Castle at 4:30 on Thursday to catch a flight from Dusseldorf Weeze Airport. A few hours later we touched down in Edinburgh. Edinburgh’s coolness is immediately apparent. I’m sorry to dis Kasteel Well, but the Edinburgh Castle is positively magnificent. Set atop a hill in the heart of the city, the Castle can be seen from many places throughout Edinburgh, and it is a pretty awesome reminder in a modern city of how people used to live their lives. Our hostel, the Art Roch Hostel, was no more than a ten minute walk from the Castle, which was cool in and of itself. It also meant that we were in a central location with a lot of pubs and shops near by. Once we dropped our stuff at the hostel, we were all thinking the same thing: food. We were in a pretty large group (some people were actually at a neighboring hostel), so we divided up according to wants. A bunch of us went to a fried food joint down the street from our hostel. I had authentic fish and chips for the first time, and it was

The history and evolution of Celtic tribal tattoo designs has been highly influenced by different cultures. When Ireland was conquered by Romans, the Christian priests in Rome converted the Celtic people to their religion. At this time, Celtic people did not have any written language, instead they used interlacing designs to express their love for nature and God. The Christian priests were greatly inspired by these designs and started using them in their Bible manuscripts.

If you have deep interest in the history and heritage of the Celtic people, then celtic tribal tattoo designs are the best way to convey your passion. In fact, not only celtic descendants are proud to ink these tattoos, but people from all over the world are getting them inked. Celtic tribal tattoo designs with unending knots symbolize the permanence of life, love and faith. The main reason for the popularity of Celtic tribal tattoo designs is that it is not gender or race specific. In a way Celtic designs tend to treat humans as equal because the meaning of these tattoo designs is much deeper in meaning than gender or race. This is what I love about these tattoos, they have carry strong meaning – isn’t this what a tattoo is all about? Express who you are and what you believe, and why not make it look great!

Celtic tattoo designs are among the top favorite tattoo design choices among people who want to get inked.  Celtic tattoos, with its beautiful knots and symbolisms, are very intricate and interesting pieces that are sure to capture any person’s attention.  It not only is pleasing to the eyes, but it actually packs a lot of history, culture and heritage into the design.

The history of the Celts goes back thousands of years ago.  At some point, the whole of Europe was actually Celtic, and England was governed completely by the Celts.  They had their own language, culture, and religion.  The symbols that they used during those ages served as the basis for today’s modern Celtic tattoos.

Originally, the Celtic people worshipped several gods and goddesses but as time passed, they were eventually exposed to Christianity.  This change is evident in the symbols and shapes that they use, which incorporated many Christian elements such as crosses and stars.  Most of the Celtic tattoo designs used today were also based on symbols form illuminated manuscripts and ancient art from England, Scotland and Ireland.

The Celtic warriors covered their bodies with tattoos as a sign of their courage and strength.  During wars, they went to battles bare-chested so their tattoos can easily be seen by their enemies.  It was thought that their tattoos could instill fear and intimidation in their rivals and enemies, and they wore it proudly.  During those times, having numerous tattoos was a sign of fearlessness and bravery.

Today, Celtic tattoo designs have evolved, incorporating several traditional Celtic symbols into the tattoo.  Most of these designs were customized to portray the different representations in Celtic art.

A prominent feature that makes Celtic tattoo designs a favorite is its intricate and elaborate knot work.  These knots look like interwoven ropes or vines and are usually designed to form a certain shape or pattern for the tattoo.  The possibilities are virtually endless, as these knots can be made to form any shape from the simplest crosses and circles, to the more complicated stars and other combinations.  And what’s especially interesting about this knot is that it forms a complete cycle, and there’s basically neither beginning nor end to a Celtic knot.  It just goes on an on to form your desired tattoo design.

If you’re one of those individuals fascinated with Celtic tattoo designs or if you have a Celtic heritage and you want to express your pride in being a Celt, getting this tattoo is definitely for you.  However, you must keep in mind that because of its intricacies, not many tattoo artists can give you the precise line placement and details needed to ink an impressive Celtic tattoo.  It is usually one of the tougher tattoo designs and if you want to get inked, it helps to choose the right tattoo artist who has a lot of experience in inking Celtic designs.

Celtic tattoo designs are beautiful tattoos for those who have an eye for detail and intricate art work, and for those who appreciate the rich history and culture that comes along with it.

If you go back in time to Namibia some 27,000 years ago you will come to the birth of the human desire to appear attractive. In those days bird feathers and animal bones, seeds and dried sticks were used as pendants and earrings. Since most of these articles of jewelry were degradable not much can be seen today other than in cave drawings perhaps. But the prehistoric desire has not ebbed. From the time a girl achieves puberty or even earlier, her ears and nose are pierced. The wearing of earrings from an early age is still practiced in villages around the world. Antique earrings are therefore the commonest articles of personal jewelry found along with antique pendants. Egyptian jewelry among others has some beautiful samples of antique earrings in online shops.

Egyptian jewelry dates back to around 4500 BC during the time of El-Badari. Then came the golden age of Cleopatra, Nefertiti and the Pharaohs and the Greco Roman period when Egyptian jewelry flourished. The oldest among the antique jewelry from Egypt are probably the Fuluni Hoop earrings from the Sudan area or the Akuaba doll earrings worn as a symbol of fertility.

The ancient Egyptians were staunch believers of symbolism. This trait is reflected in virtually all ancient Egyptian jewelry. Gold was considered divine and symbolic of the sun god. Lapis lazuli was considered a sacred stone of celestial origin and symbolic of truth. The scarab beetle was widely used and symbolized rebirth. The carnelian was a stone that symbolized courage and great physical power. The blue lotus was symbolic of the god Nefertum of Memphis. He was the gold of perfume and the lotus that opened at dawn and closed at dusk was symbolic of divinity and eternal life.

When you go online you are amazed at the degree of care that has been taken to faithfully reproduce antique Egyptian jewelry especially earrings. You can buy a most attractive set of lotus petal and onyx earrings in sterling silver gilded with 22 ct gold or a set of Ankh earrings worn as an amulet said to possess unusual powers.

The Celtic art and culture became popular because of the elements of both European and Indian heritage in it. Celtic music is still very much liked in all parts of the world and so is Celtic jewelry. Some people wear Celtic religious jewelry merely to follow fashion because it is a mixture of antique designs and modern artwork. These jewelry articles are now widely available on the internet in the form of cross pendants, Claddagh rings, and Shamrock jewelry articles including beautiful pendants and charms. Four-leaf clover charms in gold, silver and platinum are also highly appreciated all over the world.

Authentic Celtic jewelry is very beautiful and eye-catching. Many people like to wear these items as symbols of fashion and style. Lovely hand carved rings with gemstones and diamonds are also exchanged by the bride and the bridegroom on their wedding in many cultures. Celtic spiral and tied-knot rings are particularly notable and famous all over the world. These rings are available in silver, yellow gold and white gold and are quite affordable. A serpent forming a celtic knot is a popular design in these kinds of jewelry articles.

Celtic crosses in the category of religious jewelry come in various styles and designs. They are available in the price range of $50 to $500 depending on their material and the quality of gemstones or diamonds used on them. Pure gold crosses and crucifixes are liked by a lot of people out there because of their beauty and charm. Carnandonagh, 4 Gospels and Duleek cross pendants are beautiful and unique. The Carnandonagh cross is named after St. Patrick. Some of these pendants come with chains, while others are sold without chains. You can find sterling silver and gold charms and crosses at reasonable prices.

Loose charms and crosses can also be found in this category which can be used in all kinds of jewelry making projects. The Celtic cross is a bit different from the traditional cross as it comes with a ring or circle which represents eternity and never-ending love bestowed by God upon mankind. This concept is depicted in almost all Celtic religious jewelry articles. Handmade Irish and Scottish jewelry is admired by stylish and devout people. Authentic Celtic jewelry made in Ireland including two-tone and double-sided crosses, and gemstone and sterling silver cross pendants can be found online.

Among Celtic religious jewelry, four-leaf clover pendants and charms are also worn as lucky jewelry articles. Many people believe that wearing such signs and symbols can bring them good luck or good fortune. The peace sign and the number 7 are also worn as beautiful charms in bracelets and chains. In addition to these, you can also find replica crosses of Moone, Ardboe, Drumcliffe, Durrow and Ahenny. These replica cross pendants come very inexpensive and are truly magnificent. You can find them in the price range of $70 to $100 which is quite affordable. Celtic cross pendants with real gemstones are also admired across the globe.
