Why do so many Scots, especially the Nationalists have such a problem with Wales? But what do you base your opinions on?
When I go to Wales, I see more of a country than Scotland. Because you all speak English, your national anthem is in English, you’re trying to wipe out your languages (I’m not including ‘Scots’ as it’s just a dialect of English). Also, all your signposts are in English, but I do know you have Gaelic ones in some areas.
The Welsh still have their own language. Scotland chose English as their language, while the Welsh were forced to speak English. Yet, they have saved it from dying out.

I have more respect for Welsh people, as they have more respect for their country. They don’t base their nationality on hating us, and are proud of their culture. Wales has had cultural nationalism, and I don’t think Scotland has ever had something like this. Also, Scotland went into the Union, because you were bankrupt by the Darien scheme, and England bailed you out, yet you still hate us! Independence- You’re so blinded by anti-Englishness, you’ll do anything to get away from us, even at the expense of your country’s wellbeing.

Why do you believe that you’ve been oppressed by England, and Wales has had an easy ride? Do you know their history? Why do you enjoy being ‘victims’? Why do you have this ‘Braveheart’ mentality? It’s 2009!

My girlfriend is Welsh, and she had a lot of hassle in Scotland for being Welsh. She speaks her language, and so do her family. They’re really proud people, and I have never seen this in the Scots. Just anger and bigotry. And not just towards the English and Welsh. Heard some nice anti-Irish chanting from Rangers fans.
I’m not aiming this at all Scots, just the ignorant ones.

I need a few reasons for and against Ireland being reunified for English.

Shetland: Descriptive and Historical ; Being a Graduation Thesis On the Inhabitants of the Shetland Islands and a Topographical Description of That Country

For instance, someone will ask about a Native American legend or Celtic myth and will get some modern version of the answer instead of the actual mythology.
When I say modern I mean something like the comic book version, or a version that was designed to suit a modern religious practice, rather than the folklore or myth that is traditional to the originating culture. (Many myths are readily available for anyone who wants to read them.)
I know stories change over time, but I am talking about versions that have absolutely nothing to do with the original folklore. For example, someone asks about fairies and I say “They are believed to be the souls of dead cats that belonged to politicians. They bring the ability to cook good food into all houses that are painted pink.” From what folklore tradition could I have possibly obtained this?
“I believe most original mythology is lost to nearly everybody but scholars or serious amateurs.” You mean, most don’t learn about it so they just make up alternate versions or go with anything they read anywhere?

Flame-Bearers of Welsh History; Being the Outline of the Story of the Sons of Cunedda

I mean, the original word for the language is Gaeilge (Gaelic), not Éireannach (Irish). Referring to the language as “Irish Gaelic” avoids confusing it with the English language as spoken in Ireland and the Gaelic language as spoken in Scotland.

political crew(you guys) thought about this quote regarding a person learning Christian ways of life?

“It is of note that the Indians of Peru, before we Christians had come to them, had certain and particular modes of swearing, distinct from ours. They had no assertive oaths, such as ‘by God’ or ‘by heaven’ but only execration or curses… e.g. ‘if I am not telling the truth, may the sun kill me’ they said mana checcanta niptiy, indi guanuchiuancmancha… Once when I asked a chieftain in a certain province if he was a Christian, he said ‘I am not yet quite one, but I am making a beginning.’ I asked him what he knew of being Christian, and he said: ‘I know how to swear to God, and play cards a bit, and I am beginning to steal.’”

Fray Domingo Santo Tomas
Before my republican buddies go off on me, i am republican, BUT i do no believe in religion. I believe God is not a religion of any sort. It is merely a name for something greater then ourselves. It is idiotic to think we appeared out of thin air but equally as stupid to think that we owe something so much greater then ourselves anything in return such as praise, sacrifice, or the precious time we have left as conscience human beings.
For el Diablo:

If religion in politics doesn’t matter, why has there never been an atheist president? Why are democrats and even a couple republicans against Romney for being a Mormon even though he doesn’t practice polygamy? The reason most states (even blue ones) don’t have gay marriage is based on religion. And most pro-lifers are that way because of religion. You can argue that the last two examples should not be a part of politics but its too late, they are, which means the religious reasons behind them are apart of our political system as well.
