Ireland and Greece are going through a huge economy crisis right now, and there are even some talk about wanting Greece to leave the EU. But on the other hand, Romania is also a very poor country, how come the EU doesn’t seem to be effected by this at all? There are no talks about Romania getting kicked out of the EU. So….what’s the difference between these 3 countries? Why are people more concern about Ireland and Greece’s economy, but not Romania?

I was reading online and found a historical connection between people from the Orkney Islands and Aboriginal people from Northern Alberta, Canada.

I was wondering if anyone had heard of this connection, and if they might know of any information for me regarding this.

Actually, here in Canada (I lived in Northern Alberta for 3 years), we do identify Metis as Aboriginal.

I am quite familiar, first-hand, with both Native and Metis culture, but did know the connection the Orkney specifically. The reason I am intrigued by this is that my family is from the Orkneys.

I have 3 weeks, and i want to start in Dublin and explore around Ireland, then take the rail around Western Europe and eventually end up in Amsterdam. I’m looking for some hidden gems along the way. Does anyone know of any cool, underappreciated sites to check out?

I have seen from one company, books that say “learn Gaelic” and books that say “learn Irish” and opening them up, the languages look almost Identical. What is the difference?
