I was finding it curious about the fact that someone mentioned that the knot on the book came from a religion that was older than Christianity. Could someone elaborate more on that? I like the TV series of Charmed, and just assumed that it was a book of spells, and that the symbol only was part of the Wicca religion. I was raised Christian, i know that is strange for me to watch something that i was strongly urged to not watch at all. Curiousity always killed the cat, or so to speak. i like the actors mainly.

I need to do more research for a couple of writing projects I’m working on. What I’m looking for are books that talk about what life was like during the medieval era and the Victorian era (both in regard to England and/or Western Europe). I want to learn more about the technologies available, architecture (in standard homes as well as castles), that sort of thing.

I primarily need to research the medieval era, but could use a similar resource for the British Victorian as well.

Can anyone recommend a book with a general overview of life at the time?
