Took advantage of the free weekend pass from Historic Scotland last year during St Andrew’s Weekend to visit one of their properties in Clackmannanshire. Never visited before but really enjoyed the views from the top of the Castle.

Thornbury Castle, England: Glastonbury Abbey Ruins, a day trip from Thornbury Castle. The discovery of King Arthur and Queen Guinevere’s grave in 1191 was based on a grave stone inscription: Hic jacet sepultus inclitus rex Arthurus in insula Avalonia (“Here lies interred the famous King Arthur on the Isle of Avalon”).
