Me and my family are Sutherland but we’ve always wondered why our ancestors came to America when they were a rich clan with a extravagant castle.My family is still talking to the Sutherlands still living in the castle but no one knows why our ancestor came to america before the civil war to become a plantation owner.My mom always said it had something to do with a clan war but we still don’t know so can someone give me some help?Also please don’t give me a link to some ancestry site thanks.

i am trying to figure out what scottish clan houghton is part of yea it is scottish dont go into a lecture on how it derives from the danish vikings or whatever, if you guys could just tell me what clan it belongs to. i think it’s Gordon or MacDuff. PLEASE ANSWER!!!! I will pick best answer please answer its reallly important for me and ive researched and researched and i can only find the most common surnames of the clans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok so my great grandfather was full blood Scottish and my last name is Moore and i just want to know what that means in relation to Scottish heritage? my father is 50% french and Scottish and my mother is 50% German and Irish if that helps? and if any ? email me for more information so i can figure this out!!

I have Scottish on so many branches of my family tree, but Im not sure which one is the clan that I “belong” to. Do I pick any of them that my ancestors were part of, or am I supposed to follow a specific branch (father’s mother’s father, etc.)? My paternal side, where my last name comes from, is all German, but my father’s grandmother is where our Scottish starts. I want to have my clan crest printed up and apply for membership in the clan.

I’m a history nut and I cant find a clan that my family belongs to.
I havnt done research on the Scottish side of my family before, so I dont even know where to start from the information I already have.
Any advice and what not would be appreciated
