The rhythm of the line is the stressed syllables of the line (try clapping as you read it!) The lines of the poem are numbered so when you answer give the number of beats next to the correct number. Here is the poem:

On being asked, Whence is the flower?

1.In May, when sea-winds pierced our solitudes,
2.I found the fresh Rhodora in the woods,
3.Spreading its leafless blooms in a damp nook,
4.To please the desert and the sluggish brook.
5.The purple petals, fallen in the pool,
6.Made the black water with their beauty gay;
7.Here might the red-bird come his plumes to cool,
8.And court the flower that cheapens his array.
9.Rhodora! If the sages ask thee why
10.This charm is wasted on the earth and sky,
11.Tell them, dear, that if eyes were made for seeing,
12.Then Beauty is its own excuse for being:
13.Why thou wert there, O rival of the rose!
14.I never thought to ask, I never knew:
15.But, in my simple ignorance, suppose
16.The self-same Power that brought me there brought you.

My brother’s girlfriend is staying with us for a few days and brought her female cocker spaniel mix. It fought with my female corgi upon first arriving at the house, but they calmed down. There were no problems since this.

This morning I awoke to the sounds of the corgi screaming and dog fighting noises. By the time I got there, my brother had separated the two. I asked what happened.

He claims that my corgi walked by his room where the other dog was eating, saw the other dog eating, and went “apeshit” crazy and ran in there and started attacking his girlfriend’s dog for no reason. I don’t believe this, as my dog is smaller and is generally scared of all other dogs. Also, my corgi has been acting very scared since the event, sticking close to me and not wanting to be near my brother’s room at all. The other dog acts as if nothing happened. My brother has changed his story a couple of times also, now saying that my corgi followed him into the room and then attacked the other dog, rather than just seeing her from the hallway and going crazy. I don’t believe either version of his story.

What I believe happened was that my dog followed him into the room while the other dog was eating, and since the food bowls are located right at the door and the corgi was in the cocker mix’s food space, the cocker attacked my dog out of food aggression. The cocker was a rescue from a previously abusive household. The corgi has been with me since she was 10 weeks old, she is now 8 years and I have never had a problem like this with her before.

My question to you is, do you think my brother is right? Do you think my Welsh Corgi would just see this dog eating, charge into the room and attack for no reason?

Or do you think I am right in assuming that I am not being told the complete truth about the incident?
Thanks for the answers so far, and to answer APBT’s question:

My corgi is spayed. I don’t know if the other dog is spayed but I’m assuming she is.
It’s not even the fact that they fought which has me angry, it’s the fact that I have a strong feeling my brother is lying about whose dog started the fight because he knows my father will ask his girlfriend and her dog to stay elsewhere if he thinks it will harm our dog.

I really don’t think it’s fair to my dog to be made into a ***** so that the real problem can stay in our house.

I wonder if, perhaps, they met in the late 1800s or very earlly 1900s at Windsor Castle in England, under the auspices of British Queen Victoria, who was grandmother to the German-born Alix/Alicky/Alexandra (Romonov), future and last Tsarina of Russia. She was murdered by Bolshiviks in 1917 shortly after the Russian Revolution. George Nathanial Curzon was a promising, attractive Eaton student/then world traveler/then member of Parliament/then member of Government/then Statesman. For research purposes, I am trying to determine if they *ever* met, however briefly; and if there was ever a romantic ‘spark’ between them prior to her marriage to Czar Nicolas. How would one discover/determine this possible historical fact? Everyone kept diaries in those days; and all corresponded by letter with family and friends. Help! Any leads/tips/ideas — or facts! — greatly appreciated. Let us exchange e-mails, then chat by telephone, if that’s appropriate. I’m in California. Thank you!

Celtic Wedding Bands:Showing your perpetual passion for someone can be horrid to transmit. Sometimes, we require to give them something to remember you by, especially when times get frightful, and you have to be out from your partner for quite some time. Or Else, if you are open to pop the question but doubtful of how to perfectly personify what you feel for your better half on your wedding day, then the greatest path to represent how you feel for them throughout your relationship is through Celtic wedding bands such as the Claddagh wedding bands. These bands are favorite modes of imparting your feelings for you partner on your big wedding day. What Claddagh Wedding Bands Symbolize Claddagh wedding bands Represent all of the affairs that you and your spouse have lived through in your relationship. The Claddagh ring is readied up of three clear symbolic representations that typify a couple’s story unitedly. It is made up of a crown that sits on top of a heart with the heart held by two hands on both sides. The crown is said to correspond commitment, the heart represents love, and the two hands interpret friendship. These Celtic wedding bands are said to entail that love and friendship dominates above everything.Claddagh wedding bands as well comprise the many phases of a kinship. The first level is that of friendly relationship. Once they have decided to become serious with each other, they become closely committed and eventually it leads to the second stage of the kinship, which is involvement. The third stage as described by the Claddagh ring is that of marriage. These three stages are presented in the Celtic wedding bands and is a great monitor for matches about the many legs they have gone through. The history of the brandThe Claddagh wedding bands of course, did not come into being without any important story behind it. Although there are many legends bordering this wedding band, there is one story that is most liable, the story of Richard Joyce. Richard Joyce was said to be a native of a little town in Ireland called Galway. He left his hometown to work in the West Indies. However, by some unlucky instance, he was picked out as a slave and was sold to a Moorish goldsmith. Under the care of his lord, he studied the craft of creating jewelry and became a known artisan because of his great attainment. He impressed his master so much that his master offered up to give his own daughter in marriage. He, however, refused his master’s courteous offer. He was able to go back to his little town when the king of England asked that all British prisoners were to be freed. Once he was there, he right away searched for his one true love and was elated to find out out that she has continued true to to him throughout his 14-year absence. He then gave her his present, a ring that he made while he was away. This ring is we now know today as the Claddagh ring. Therefore, if you want to stand for a love that has lasted Through hard time and not so hard times, then get your own Claddagh wedding bands at Irish Indeed! They have the best Celtic wedding bands you can find online.
