OK, so I know that october is opal and January is Garnet, and that there are more birthstones than just 1 for each month. What are the other birthstones for both October as well as January? Also, if this is asking too much, what do they symbolize? (i,e garnet symbolizes friendship… etc.) :]

I was planning on traveling to Ireland and Scotland in January because it is off-season, and airfare and hotels are significantly cheaper. However,I was a bit concerned that some of the tourist spots may be closed because of the weather / season. Would I be able to visit all the tourist spots and enjoy myself during winter in Ireland and Scotland?
