Pipe Major Chris Armstrong heads up the grade one Scottish Power Pipe Band. With the band performing at a number of events over the week of Piping Live! and competing in the World Championships on Saturday, we caught up with him before a practice.

I know that there is about 22,000 people living in the shetlands, appartenly quite foggy summers. I love the idea of the remoteness and self sufficient living, how much are the boat journeys to get onto scotlands main land, for work? or work prospects in the orkney isles a bit down/ in the shetlands also.
is scots gaelic more widely used there than english, like cymraeg is widely spoken in anglesey. I know that as a fluent cymraeg speaker ( welsh speaker) it is easy to converse with the cetlic bretons of Britany as the languages are very simular, how easy is it to learn gaelic celtic language or undertand gaelic from brythonical celtic language ( cymraeg / welsh language)?.
