I bought the Sun today, and as I turned to the back pages I noticed that 5 pages had been donated to coverage of the England vs Trinidad and Tobago friendly tomorrow.

On the same night Wales are playing against the mighty Holland in another friendly. Yet there isn’t a single word in the paper on that match.

Let’s compare the two matches:

England are playing against a minor team in world football in a match that doesn’t matter. They will probably field half a team, and the result will not matter unless T&T actually beat them.

On the other hand Wales are playing against a team that qualified for Euro 2008. Wales will play one of their youngest teams in their history against these giants of world football. Yet again the result won’t matter, unless Wales win!

If anything there is a bit more significance to the Welsh match!

How then does England get so much coverage in the media whilst Wales getts nothing? Aren’t we both meant to be equal members of the UK? English bias?

I know back in his era Atheism was regarded as a new form of lifestyle and thus harshly reacted towards by religious communities, in fact the most rude words I’ve ever heard any Christian say were said about Shelley and his brilliant poetical works when he died. For those who know Shelley, do you think he may have inspired Atheism to become a more public lifestyle rather than having it remain a private secret.

As an Atheist myself, I tend to swing my pendulum a little towards yes.
The link seems to be not workning ofr me, apologies, here’s another link…

Entry from: Culloden, United Kingdom Entry Title: “Urquhart Castle, Culloden and More” Entry: “Leaving Glen Affric we decided to take the scenic route back to Aberdeen. We stopped first a short distance away at Urquhart Castle which was once one of Scotland’s largest, but is now a ruin perched on the banks of Loch Ness. Although there’s been a castle on the site since at least 1230, it flipped back and forth into Scottish and English hands during the 11th and 12th centuries and in the process was attacked by both sides. It also played a role in the Scottish struggle for independence and in the 15th and 16th centuries was frequently raided and plundered by western clans. Repairs followed, but the castle fell into decline and in 1689 Urquhart Castle saw its last drama when a small garrison supporting the Protestant monarchy of William and Mary held off a much larger Jacobite force. The garrison later left, blowing up much of the castle as they did and so it was left to ruin. Its now an odd shape, built around two separate rocky outcrops. A beautiful, dramatic but peaceful site where you can lose yourself in the legends of history – it’s probably a must see for anyone visiting the area and you never know, you might just spot Nessie swimming in the loch. Our next stop was more drama and history at the …
