(Original composition, videography and photography) Percy Bysshe Shelley was known throughout his childhood as a ponderous boy and a dreamer whose passion in life and the discovery of beauty overwhelmed his identity – establishing a kind of innocence devoid of ignorance; the dreamer who has fought in many battles, though fired few bullets. Shelley’s perspicacity and wherewithal (irrespective of the confusion inherently tied to the society around him) made him a harsh teacher to the proud and a hand of kindness to the weak. Despite being a dreamer and a boy of great ambition and purpose, he was hotly criticised by those around him; most notably by his family. In reading his writings, I relate very deeply with his thoughts and certainly with his circumstances – I, myself, am a dreamer, a poet, a ponderer; someone who escapes life as it is in the hope of what it may be. I usually do this by walks – on such a morning as this, I recall “Shelley’s Walk” – a song I wrote about the moments Shelley and I must have shared, as dreamers, escaping our surroundings by going for long walks and getting away from it all to think – it’s not a happy song, but it’s redemptive.
