Paddy Moloney es el fundador y líder de “The Chieftains”. Se crió en Donnycarney, al norte Co. Dublin. Su amor por la música irlandesa vino de sus padres nativos Co. Laois y la música que le rodeaba en su casa. Su primer instrumento fue una el Tin Whistle, por la edad de ocho años fue aprendiendo a tocar la gaita irlandesa con el gran maestro Leo Rowsome.

Black Irish Band performing live the very first railroad song written, “Paddy Works on the Railway” This song dates back as far as the 1840s and is about the Irish working on the early Railways of England. This live performance was at the Golden State Theater in Downtown Monterey on December 31st, 2009 Patrick Michael Karnahan is the lead vocal with David rainwater on fiddle. This song can be found on the bands 10th CD album, “The Day the Earth Shook’. It can be found on the bands web site for sale at www.blackirish.com
