The group of islands off the west coast of Europe which contains Great Britain, Ireland, the Hebrides, the Isle of Man, and surrounding islands generally known as the British Isles; should they be called something else as the “British” part may lead some people to believe it is all politically part of the UK?

If These Walls Could Speak, the Tales They Would Tell – Edinburgh Castle

live.pirillo.com – I’ve never been to the UK, but I’ve always wanted to go. Heck, I’d love to visit Ireland and Scotland as well. I got an email the other day that I thought would be fun to make into a video. I get emails from all over the world. I really love hearing about your countries, and even the favorite foods of your locale.

History of the Orkney Islands: In Which Is Comprehended an Account of Their Present As Well As Their Ancient State; Together with the Advantages They … and the Means by Which They May Be Improved

For my geography project i have to find out what they do for entertainment in Ireland. what do people do for fun, what is there to visit. what sports do they play and what the average home is like and the lifestyle they have there. If someone could help me out with this that would be wonderful! thanks a lot in advance!

I want to know how they became Scot-Irish and how and where they migrated to in the U.S.

Just like to know some fun or interesting (don’t care if it’s negative or positive) about Americans visiting or living in Ireland.

Maybe it’s just how I was taught (and it always seemed right to me)… but a big thing driven into me was that you respect a God or Goddess on His/Her own terms.

A perfect example– the Christian God says “have no other Gods before me.” But people want to drag Him into Wiccan rituals and put a Goddess beside Him. Does “but I want to do it that way” really cut it? Shouldn’t you be doing it His way if you want to worship Him?

Or people who want to mix Greek and Hindu Gods in a Celtic (flavored) style ritual. Is there something a bit off about throwing out the Celtic Knot altar cloth and invoking Kali-Ma and Pan to honor Them for Samhain? Or throw Santerian Orisha statues on their fairy Wicca altar with a stack of prayer petitions?

Isn’t it a bit like treating like Them like hired help, to drag Them along to do something for you? To not even go out of your way to make Them feel comfortable and at home the way you would treat a guest of honor? If WE are the ones inviting THEM into our lives, shouldn’t WE be the ones to make appropriate accommodations and an effort to forge a relationship in a way They feel comfortable?

Or is it all about us? Do you think God/desses just don’t care what we do… it’s the thought that counts and all that sort of thing (even if the thought didn’t go much further than “hey, i want something from this One”). Call Them, mix Them, match Them, use Them, they’re just delighted to be getting attention from us and don’t ever expect us to have the manners to treat Them a certain way.

But even if you think They are understanding enough not to demand or expect things from us– how do you not yourself WANT to be as respectful and thoughtful as possible when addressing Them, taking cues from history and mythology and cultures that have revered Them for centuries before us, on what They prefer?

Sorry for the rant but curious of what others think. Maybe I’m missing some logic here.
Clarification– perhaps I should have made this clear– I’m talking about those who actually believe in and/or worship Higher Powers. If you don’t believe in deity then it’s a given you don’t think there are entities who care about anything.

Basementcat, I know there is a difference; that’s why I addressed Wiccans & Heathens & Pagans in general instead of just “Wiccans” or just “Pagans” or just “Heathens.” If I thought they were all the same exact thing I would not have used all 3 terms. And I know Wiccans are Pagans… but being Wiccan I was hoping to specifically catch the attention of Wiccans, but I’d be happy to hear opinions from those of any other Pagan faith, and Heathens as well.

This Folklore is old. I do not know whether it is Scottish, English, Irish. I need to know who wrote the Folklore and where I can access it. I know putting money on the deceased love you allows them to pay “a man” to crossover to heaven.

Very important to me; need this information.

Thanks
