An ancient Celtic myth explodes in the centre of a modern Canadian family in this strikingly original drama by Kelley Jo Burke.
When Mary gets a surprise visit from her old friend Gen, we learn that Mary has a secret that could threaten her life with husband Cal and teenage daughter Brigit.
No ordinary secret, this. As it turns out, Mary is a selkiea seal who sheds her skin to mate with a human male, then returns to the water with her offspring. But… More >>

From the bestselling and critically acclaimed author of The Hidden Diary of Marie Antoinette comes a powerful new novel about Catherine Parr, The Last Wife of Henry VIII. The least known of Henry VIII’s six wives was the cleverest of them all. Alluring, witty, and resourceful, she attracted the king’s lust and, though much in love with the handsome Thomas Seymour, was thrown into the intrigue-filled snakepit of the royal court. While victims of the king’s wr… More >>
When I was little, in the 1990′s, we rented a video from our library.
I think it was a combination of different stories for children, and there was one story on it about a Selkie, who’s seal skin was stolen by a fisherman/farmer.
She had to stay with him, and became his wife, and had children. One day, one of the children found her sealskin stuck behind a brick in their house, and she fled with it back to the sea.
I would love to see that movie again, but I don’t know what it is called or if it still exists.
Anyone have any information about it?
Thank you ![]()
This is not the movie Roan Innish – it isn’t a movie, it was just a short animation or collection of illustrations with narrations.
I think it may be different than in real life (history). Does anyone know both of the names? Other info would be great as well. Like how to pronounce both names…

Alfred 00-OCT9606 Lament of a Fisher s Wife- from Celtic Songs
I have been Kilted for five years, but only around the house, and on special occasions such as weddings, holidays and celtic festivals.
Living in Dallas Texas, I see a few going out in public (outside the special occasions I mentioned) at times in their Utility Kilts (or UK’s). I know for the few times I had worn my out, in transit, people stare and ask silly questions. No big deal, but my wife really wants me to go full time in the kilt, whether going out for a bite to eat or just running around.
She says it’s now my image. I am not sure if I am ready. I am scared my wife will be disappointed if I do not meet her half way.
What do you think?
Actually at times, she goes out wearing no underwear, no bras or panties–Only when she wants to be sexy in club clothes.
Kilts are not homo. For me, it’s not to be the center of attention all the time. You tend to get a lot of smiles, and make friends easy Kilted, but it gets daunting never ending.
