Right now my niece is very into the history of Queen Elizabeth I and Mary Stuart, and my nephew is very into King Henry and just about any castle out there…even if it’s practically in ruins. I have a couple days but I’m kind of overwhelmed already — there’s so many castles and royal sights — please help me narrow them down to the best ones! =) Thanks!

no doubt about it; Buckingham palace in London. They have those guards there that can’t move! i live about 2 hours away from London and i haven’t been since I was 8. I should really go again!

If you only have a couple of days, then keep to London.
The Tower of London will take a good half day. If Buckingham Palace is open, that’s another good half day gone.
Outside London, there’s Hampton Court Palace, but allow a whole day with travel time.

Hatfield House is very connected with the Tudors. That’s just outside London. Where I live in Dorset we have a Castle that King Henry built ut it’s quite small and a long way from London.

There are many great ones in Wales/the Welsh borders and the scottish borders and across the country (Warwick, for example) really but I’m guessing that you are in London so you’ll pretty much be fixed on the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace etc. However I just found a good castle outside of the centre to visit is Bodiam.
http://www.ecastles.co.uk/bodiam.html – open all year
but try this site I’ve found, it contains a map highlighting all the castles and gives details on them

Check out Warwick Castle, near Stratford On Avon. Awesome torture chamber, kids love that. Certain days they have jousting and tournaments.
Could also check out Shakespeare properties at the same time.
